In her favourite spot, next to the chicken wire, every Sunday Captain Machi and her band fire up the whole farm with their punk rock music. They play unconventional songs with social messages about freedom and against genetically modified corn. On the frontline, Captain Machi plays the electric guitar and rocks for hours. Responsible for the sound check is the always busy and beloved Alector, the Renaissance Rooster on the farm. Captain Machi is a self-taught guitarist and bass player. She learned how to play at the squattings where she participated when she was a student. She writes the lyrics to her songs together with the other members of the band. As soon as the live show ends, they will go on a leisurely stroll, discussing self-management issues of the farm and other rebellious subjects.
In the past few days, Captain Machi has been particularly tired of the repeated protests. Every morning she fills a bowl with cold water and adds salt. She then immerses her feet and relaxes for half an hour. One morning, Alector, who was passing by, recommended a foot massager, but Captain wouldn't hear of it. Every time she feels that tired, Captain Machi fills the bowl with salt or a handful of ice cubes and chills out while reading her favourite free press, "Hens United".
Even revolution needs some... relaxation!
